Some of the activities of the Federation include:

  • The organization, for the past fifteen years, of a summer school in Kalamata, Greece that helps young Greek students outside of Greece learn Greek language and history as well as experience local culture so that they feel proud of their heritage. This initiative is made in collaboration with the University of Peloponnese in Kalamata and with the support of local institutions and organizations. To date, the young adults who have participated to the school in Greece come from the USA, Canada, Russia and Australia.

  • The financial support of initiatives of the youth and the dance groups of member associations of the Federation as well as the organization of presentations in Canadian and American cities. Our goal is to attract young people to participate to local associations in order to preserve our Greek tradition and pass it on to future generations.

  • The moral and financial support provided to compatriots who are facing health problems.

  • The organization, every two years, of conferences on the education of expatriates, the economy, history and the Greek civilization.

  • Charitable donations given to those affected by fires in Greece.

  • Donation of 10 computers to the University of Peloponnese in Kalamata as well as a $US 13,500 printer.

  • The creation, with the collaboration of NET TV, of a documentary that constitutes a historical record of expatriate Messenians’ life and activities in the USA and Canada.

  • The participation to national holidays and local parades.

  • The participation to meetings and conferences of the World Council of Greeks Abroad, the National Council of America and the Canadian Hellenic Congress.

  •  In addition, the Federation has provided funds to rebuild Kalamata after the 1986 eartquake and has significantly contributed to the construction of the kalamata Hospital, the Pylos Health Center and the erection of the Papaflessa statue in Maniaki.
